Biography
Born and raised in Osaka, Japan, Yukihiro already dreamt of becoming a
photographer by the age of 10. When the time came for him to attend high
school, Yukihiro naturally chose a school renowned for its photography
courses and has not looked back since. After photography trips to North
America, Yukihiro decided - 17 years ago - to move from Japan to better
capture the diversity of the terrain and seasons in North America.
A professional photographer for over 20 years, with a library of
approximately 25,000 slides, Yukihiro has taken approximately 60-70,000
photos (and counting). He has traveled the world over and has visited
most of the United States and Canada. His trips across North America can
take him away from home for up to three months at a time.
As evidenced by the nature photos found on this site, Yukihiro believes
that every photo should tell a story. An admirer of the famous Japanese
nature photographer Michio Hoshino, Yukihiro also believes it is
important to immerse himself in the landscape completely to capture
those rarest of photos. Oftentimes hiking, tenting and mountain climbing
are necessary to get closest to those areas still undefiled by the
presence of man. From the close-up of a tender flower to the awe
inspiring view of a towering mountain range, Yukihiro always seeks to
capture the image in all of its natural glory.
Yukihiro currently owns 7 different cameras (Canon, Minolta & Nikon)
along with numerous tripods, lenses and filters. His images have been
featured in countless books and magazines and can be found on sale on
many stock photo websites. He continues to travel across North America
in search of breathtaking photos and when he's not on the road (or in a
forest) he instructs photography courses.
